Condolences

Condolence From: Pat Lane
Condolence: It was a bitter / sweet meeting in Lindsay. Great to see friends and talk about the "good old days". I use to laugh when my dad said that.

So many great memories of Jack Rathwell and so much respect for him. It was wonderful to talk to friends who could remember all that he did for shuffleboard.

Jack was an "enabler" in a good way. If you stuck your nose inside the gate or door of a shuffleboard court and Jack saw you, you would have a cue in hand in no time. He was a mentor and was always there to encourage you when you asked his opinion. "Gentleman Jack" was a perfect moniker for him.

Condolence: Mrs R, Ted, Mary and families,
I am sending you my love, thoughts and condolences on the passing of your husband and Father.
Both Mr and Mrs R have always been my second parents. I have many fond memories of growing up with you that I will always cherish. Mr R was always kind and patient with us even though when we were younger we definitely could be a handful.
I remember many fun times on Colborne St, the house out in the country and the cottage.
You will be missed.

Condolence: Dear Mrs R, Ted, and Mary,
My deepest condolences to your whole family. I have so many memories of spending countless hours at your house and at your cottage. As kids we were always welcome. Which was pretty remarkable.. To this day I have been truly amazed by Mr R’s patience. He would spend hours raking the leaves on Colbourne St into the neighbourhood’s largest pile only for all the neighbourhood kids to spend hours jumping in them. The next day, that pile would be raked again!! Many dinners, picnics in back yards and boat rides on Balsam are cherished memories. When I think of my parents, Betty and Jack are always in the same thoughts.
Hold on tight to your memories. They will help you get through this very difficult time. Sending my all my love to you.

Condolence From: Greg Fitch and Paula Cayley
Condolence: Betty, Ted, Mary and Families: Our profound condolences on your loss. So many fond memories of the Fitch family's lifelong connection to the Rathwell family; from summers fishing and water skiing on Balsalm Lake, to enjoying the warm hospitality of the Rathwell home, and especially the kitchen where Betty would always have some delicious baked goods for us served up with love. Jack stood at the center of that hospitality. He was a mentor to me in outdoor activities and community involvement and was someone I looked up to as a person who achieved so much in his chosen profession. Jack will be greatly missed by my father and by all of us in the Fitch family. I suspect he is holding a fishing pole in his hands already. We send you our love and support.
