FINNEY, Valerie Ann Hillsdon (née Cummings) – Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, November 4, 2017 in her 85TH year. Beloved wife of Carl Finney of 60 years, five children Carol Jewell (and the late Dale Jewell), Allan (Kelly Comrie), Paul (Barb), Louise Smusiak (Dave) and Kevin (Wendi). Proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren Derek (Jennifer), Brent and Alisha (Kyle Davis), predeceased by Karla, Joal (Michelle), Andrew, and Jeanna, Lauren Steinsky (Trevor) and Arden, Brock and Garrett, Madison and Mackenzie. Along with two great grandchildren, Jack and Alexa-Ann Jewell. Survived by her siblings Margaret, Mary, Charles, Anne, Theresa, and James. Predeceased by Kevin, Michael, Helen, Sheila and William. Sister-in-law to Harry VanBeek (the late Marie), Donna Finney (the late Rae), Neil Finney (Susan Saunders) and the late Verna. Valerie will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their dedicated care and compassion in Valerie’s final days. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 between 2:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay, and on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lifford Road, Bethany. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Cemetery (please make payable to ‘St. Thomas/St. Mary’s Lifford’, with the memo to read for St. Mary’s Cemetery), or a charity of your choice.
