Obituary for Ken Shackleton

Shackleton, Kenneth William – Entered into rest at Extendicare - Lindsay on Saturday, October 13th. Ken in his 97th year, was the loving husband and best friend of the late Ruby for 71 years. Adored and much loved Dad of Margaret Stainton (Bruce), David and Robert (Nancy). Cherished Grandpa of Ryan Stainton (Sharon), Kent Stainton; Brent Shackleton (Leininah), Amy Brown (Julian), Kevin Shackleton (Holly), Jason Shackleton (Amber) and great-grandfather of Owen Stainton; Seth and Travis Shackleton; Aria and Miles Brown. Predeceased by his parents Roland and Mabel Shackleton and brothers Harold, Gerald, and Gordon. Ken will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ken was a retired dairy farmer and loved his music – especially playing his fiddle. He enjoyed his home on the lake, nature and was a member of Odd fellows Lodge - Orono, Orange Lodge - Tyrone and the Bobcaygeon Oldtimers – Fiddlers. But his greatest love was his wife and family. A special thanks to the staff of Extendicare for their warmth and kindness, their excellent care and for making his last days comfortable. Visitation will take place at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay on Wednesday, October 17th from 10:00a.m. until time of funeral service held in the chapel at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow at Orono Cemetery. If desired, a memorial donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Cambridge Street United Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
