Carew, Robert Cecil – Promoted to Glory at the Ross Memorial Hospital on Saturday, November 25th at the age of 78. Robert was the beloved husband of Diane Carew in their 58th year of marriage. Cherished father of Wendy Lou Carew (Paul Goodridge), Katherine Wilson (Mark Tripp) and Jill Carew (Greg McKinnon). Loving grandfather of Lindsay, Lauren, Alexandra, Emma and Megan. Dear brother of Carol Ann Jewell (Ron) and the late George Carew (survived by Sandra).
Robert Carew was a devoted soldier in the Salvation Army giving selflessly of his time, energy and humour. When the Lord asked, he never refused, serving as Treasurer, Corps Sergeant-Major, Bandsman, Janitor and Youth Group Leader. His example instilled a strong work ethic in his children, spending untold hours in the Thrift Store and being a tireless worker during the Christmas Kettle and Red Shield Appeal campaigns. He was a very good man who dearly loved his family and his country. Everyone who knew Robert was touched by his kind, gentle and generous spirit. Visitation will take place at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay on Wednesday, November 29th from 2:00 – 4:00p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00p.m.; Thursday, November 30th at 10:00a.m. until time of funeral service in the chapel at 11:00a.m. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay.
